Sophie Patitsas began her career in architectural practice in Melbourne and Singapore before joining the public sector in Victoria as an urban designer.

Sophie’s 25 years in government has affirmed her reputation as a respected collaborator, advocate and strategic adviser on architecture and urban design. In her role as Principal Adviser with the Office of the Victorian Government Architect (OVGA), Sophie’s focus includes:

  • good design principles and evaluation for health precincts and projects
  • urban design principles and ambitions in transport projects
  • urban design precinct visions and masterplans.

Sophie is committed to building capability and communicating the value of a strong design culture. Sophie’s impact is evident in:

  • procurement, evaluation and delivery of major hospital PPPs including Bendigo Hospital, Footscray Hospital and Frankston Hospital Redevelopment
  • urban design strategy and design review for Suburban Rail Loop
  • urban design principles and design review for significant activity centres and precincts

Sophie's qualifications are:

  • Bachelor of Architecture (University of Melbourne).
  • Bachelor of Planning and Design (University of Melbourne).

Sophie believes a whole of government approach to policy, procurement and project delivery can achieve design outcomes that enhance the living experience for our communities.
